YOU GUYS I CAN'T BELIEVE I FORGOT TO SAY THIS.

I FINISHED THE FIRST SEASON OF HEROES YESTERDAY!!!!

okay, so it took me three days to get through the first season, haha. I remember seeing part of the first season three years ago, but I don't remember why I stopped watching. aaaanyway my new GQMF friend likes Heroes so I decided to re-watch the first season and OMG LOVE. seriously. I've heard mixed reviews about the other seasons, but hopefully I like them. so.

also, I saw Inglourious Basterds for the third time today. Its run has ended now at the only theater that was playing it here - now they're only playing two movies, Capitalism: a Love Story (no thank you) and Paranormal Activity (saw it, not impressed :/). Anyway. IB is better every time I see it, gah. I'm obsessed D: oh well. could be worse. I could be obsessed with Star Trek or something! (wait... nevermind. I am obsessed with Star Trek. and? I'm totally great with that, too.)

okay, off to start watching season two.

GUYS, I just got back from my school's free showing of STAR TREK!!! outside. on the dark, cold COMMUNICATIONS LAWN... which I suppose means that Uhura works there? or something? lol. Anyway it was SO GREAT. Everybody cheered whenever a new character was introduced, and a lot of us did the Vulcan salute whenever it came up. My school is full of awesome nerds and I love them. (I wore my Star Trek shirt today and nobody made fun of me!)

ugh, so I think I mentioned like three weeks ago that I was going to post about New York/DC? Since then I've been both incredibly busy and incredibly lazy (an interesting combination), so... yeah.

Anyway, New York was great, mostly because I got to see the Daily Show on my birthday. No correspondents, but the interview was fairly interesting, and I was so so lucky to see the toss to the Colbert Report!! this one:
vid under the cut, yo )

And DC was good because, omg, so much historical stuff! We went to the Lincoln Memorial and the White House and the Jefferson Memorial and a bunch of museums and the Capitol Building, and, um, the Newseum (haha, I'm a nerd. But they had a ton of TDS/TCR stuff there, including an "on notice" board. Plus they were playing clips of the shows everywhere.), and the Portrait Gallery, and the Museum of American History or whatever that had Lincoln's hat and Henry Clay's senate chair (I think that's where it was anyway) and Stephen Colbert's portrait and all this other great stuff. Aaaaanyway.

Other stuff!

I went to my school for ~orientation~ and registered for classes! My school's on the quarter system and I don't move in til September 19, but a bunch of my friends going to semester schools have already left.

Also I saw Death Cab for Cutie w/ the New Pornographers and Ra Ra Riot in July, as well as the Decemberists and Andrew Bird, but I'm not sure if I mentioned that already? whatevs. both shows were really great :D

Oh, and I saw a performance of Othello a few weeks ago. It was good, but I didn't like the guy doing Iago so much. Other than that, awesome!

I'm nearly finished with the first season of the original series of Star Trek, and duuuude, am I loving it!! I have like five more episodes to watch. Anyway. Yes. Oooh, and I've been watching the new season of Psych, too. ♥

Talk to me about stuff! especially tv because I suck and watch a lot of it. or cool/nerdy (okay, they're pretty much the same thing for me) stuff. or anything.

I'M BACK FROM NEW YORK AND WASHINGTON, DC!! woo. This is an entirely lame entry to say that once I've gone through the millions of pages of stuff I've missed, I'll post something real.

Mostly I was wayyy happy about a) seeing the Daily Show live (!!!!! soooo amazing) and b) seeing like twelve hundred historical documents and artifacts and stuff (I saw Henry Clay's senate chair! lol).

OH MY GOD I AM SO BORINGGG. haha. All I seem to do lately is watch Star Trek (I saw the movie two more times, lol. also I've started watching the original series) and read (I finished Pride and Prejudice and Zombies! it was SO GREAT) and sit around being boring.

Oh yeah, I finally saw High School Musical 3. and Up. Man, that movie was hecka sad :( but also pretty sweet. And colorful.

The weather is getting sucky again, which is ridiculous. It was gorgeous all throughout May and early June and now it's all grey and rainy and Washington-y. I stayed inside all day today, bleh. I was going to watch Stop Making Sense on netflix instant play but then the Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement was on tv so I watched that instead (Chris Pine is in it so shut up haters). Not that I haven't seen it like six times already.

Oooh, my mom said I could have our dictionary!! This sounds lame until you hear that it has a history of Canada. SERIOUSLY. In an American dictionary! Also it weighs like eighty billion pounds but it's worth it. So yeah. This is what happens in my life.

ps the main reason I made this post was so I could use this icon.

I GRADUATED, YOU GUYS!!!! WOOO!!!!!!

...anyway. Prom was great and graduation was great. what else? ummmm I saw Star Trek finally! It was AWESOME.

For graduation my mom and siblings wrote on my car...my sister wrote "man love rules ok" on it, which is pretty much the best/funniest reference ever. She also wrote "frailty, thy name is woman!" haha.

I got tickets to see the Decemberists + Andrew Bird + Blind Pilot (don't know who they are) this summer at Marymoor Park, then tickets to see Death Cab for Cutie + the New Pornographers + Ra Ra Riot the next day!! I'm super excited.

My (former) English teacher made me borrow The Once and Future King and it's so good! Also, I can't wait for the US premier of Merlin! One week from today~ oh yeah, today I bought Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and so far it's hilarious.

Anyway, I think that's it? I still need to catch up on fic etc. yep.

I feel like such a space case right now! I've been ignoring the internet for a month or two, hmm. Not that I completely interesting things to say anyway.

The weather here has been gorgeous, bright and sunny and actually warm. I've been sitting outside and reading a lot lately. For instance right now I'm reading The Once and Future King by TH White which is pretty much the BEST.

Oh man guys, also, prom is next Saturday and I am in charge of the music for the ride to and from Seattle, so what are some good fun songs?? We're mostly thinking classic rock and stuff that everybody would know. My group has 6 people, my date is a fan of classic rock (and disco, which I find adorable, haha. he's also 6 and a half feet tall whereas I'm like 5ft, but that's a story for another time). UM SO if you guys have any fun song suggestions, that would be AWESOME.

I am trying to catch up on fic and other internet stuff, especially all the stuff that [info]she_burns1 has posted lately!! I'm majorly behind, but that will all be taken care of in due time. I graduate from high school on June 12 and I seriously cannot wait.

Woo! The show was so fun :D I went with my sister to the second of three shows at the Paramount Theater in Seattle. We had pretty shitty seats (like, against the wall in the back. Still, it wasn't the balcony) but it was completely amazing anyway.
no pictures but a TON of probably-boring text about the show )

PS does anybody have mp3s of Stana and I Told You I was Freaky (or whatever it's called?) that they might be willing to upload for me?

I saw Los Campesinos! last night at Neumo's in Seattle. Actually it was the second time I've seen them there and they were just as good this time. For some reason they'd moved the bar downstairs, so all ages was on the balcony. Which is ridiculous. But the bands thought it was strange too; the LC! frontman said "that's fucked up," which actually made it less sucky haha. And man, I forgot how awesome they are live. The singer sort of dances in this really stupid endearing way and during the encore came up to the balcony :D

And at one point, a chunk of the ceiling fell? And hit somebody on the head! I'm not entirely sure what happened and I don't think the band even noticed since the person who got hit was in the back of the crowd. They roped off the area and at later the singer went into the crowd and we could see him from the second floor, he looked confused. He tried to climb on the 'no parking' signs that were supposed to block it off but the signs fell.

I'm going to see Franz Ferdinand on Monday. I finally found out who's opening and omg I'm even more excited now! Born Ruffians are opening and I really sort of love them. I really really hope I get there early enough to be close to the stage but I don't have any idea when we should get there. There's an art to it, being in the front of the line. You have to be able to judge the relative fame and popularity of the band. How many people are going to be there - how big is the venue? I know FF is more famous than the Decemberists, and when I've seen them at the same venue, people start lining up pretty early. I know I'll have a good time no matter what but still. I'm short, I'd like to actually be able to see the band. lol.

I'm watching Torchwood at eight! I knew BBC America did reruns of it. Episode numero dos. I'm excited! My sister and I love Jack! haha. OH AND PS we're on s3 of doctor who and we really dislike Martha. I don't know why. We just don't like her at all.

So Western & Bellingham were great! I went to this one bookshop - it looked small from the outside but inside it was ENORMOUS - and I bought Le Morte d'Arthur, which is a thing I should probably read eventually. I love love love Western & the town and everything. The college radio station was giving away stickers and adorable little buttons.

Anyway. Right before I left on Friday, the netflix envelope showed up with the last three episodes of the second season of Doctor Who, so when I was in the car my sister kept texting me all these sad faces (because she was watching the dvd). Anyway. I watched the episodes today. (awwww, I really liked Rose! she was the exact kind of girl I would normally hate but for some reason I loved her instead). AND we're starting to watch Torchwood too, but we've only seen the first episode so far.

today was not so great a day, so have something lovely:

rupert everett & colin firth in 'the importance of being earnest,' singing.

something else: I am now doing the Doctor Who thing (by which I mean I've started watching it). I'm waiting on netflix (also, I just got netflix) for the first disc of the second series...not the old ones, (they play those on pbs haha) but the first episode with David Tennant, who my sister adores, just as probably half the world does.

also: I had to explain rickrolling to this girl today, I probably sounded crazy to her? whatever, she's the one who's been living under a rock for two years.

ps Kaitlyn, you better love merlin OR ELSE

sorry these sentences are making no sense, I... really have no excuse for this, actually.

there are a few large, probably boring pictures under the cut, just so you know.

so I saw Ra Ra Riot on Wednesday... )

And I might as well show you guys some of my other ticket stubs etc. as long as I'm making this post, not that you'll care much. Whatever:

more stuff )

in April I'm going to see Los Campesinos! at Neumos, and maybe the Thermals there too, and then Franz Ferdinand at the Paramount. And all of those shows are during the same four day span, but I really want to see them all :/

The other day I felt really blah so I watched the Princess Bride, and it made me happy, and then I watched it again today. haha.

Yesterday was lovely - sunny and gorgeous. I went on a field trip to city hall with like eight other people from my school and like twenty from other schools in my district, and I wore a dress, which I never do, and I hung out with these two guys, Evan and Patrick, who're in a few of my classes. I didn't know/like anybody else on the trip, and Evan used to annoy me so much but it was actually really fun (the three of us were really bummed that we missed European History though because everybody else in the class was doing a mock trial of Martin Luther). I love going on the bus. We got back early and the school let us leave right away. We would have anyway, but it was nice.

Then my friend came over and we watched Psych (she'd never seen it! I wish I could've showed her last week's episode, but we deleted it from the dvr) and my neighbor/friend/sister & brother's friend too came over and then we watched Zoolander, 'cause my neighbor had never seen that, and then we were talking and hanging out and then it was nearly one before my friend left, and then I slept in til two pm today, oops. and that's my life story.

my tickets for Ra Ra Riot on Wednesday arrived, I am excited.

you guys should tell me interesting stuff, because you all have more interesting lives than I do, etc. etc.

so I went to my friend's house last night and watched all of this season of FOTC, and omg, the 'Friends' song was so cute! my friend said "I want to put that moment into my pocket" and I quite agree haha. And somehow over the past few months I managed to forget how really really ridiculously good-looking Bret and Jemaine are (seriously, I don't know what's wrong with me) and watching the show last night remedied that ♥

I finished reading American Wife by Curtis Sittenfeld, and A Separate Peace by John Knowles, which I had to read for school. I don't know if any of you guys have read this, but let me please tell you what it says on the back of the book:

"GENE was a lonely, introverted intellectual.
PHINEAS was a handsome, taunting daredevil athlete.
What happened between them at shcool one summer during the early years of World War II is the subject of
A SEPARATE PEACE."

Well, I read it, and it turns out it ISN'T about their secret gay romance. Who knew?

What's going on for you guys????
